Features of Anguilla
Anguilla
is the most northerly of the Caribbean Leeward Islands, situated some 30 minutes by boat from St. Martin.
In 1971, Anguilla seceded from associated statehood with St. Kitts and
Nevis, opting instead for direct British rule, which was officially granted in 1982. Anguilla is a stable
society and strong democracy, peacefully governed by an Executive Council of ministers appointed from
the Legislative Council of elected members, presided over by a British appointed Governor.
The
convenient location of Anguilla, its vibrant culture, friendly people and virtually crime-free society
have enabled Anguilla to establish a solid and growing financial sector along with a high-end tourist
industry with a number of world class hotels and restaurants.
